At the northern borders of Bosnia, the migrant route clashes against the wall of Europe, trapping hundreds of people in the town of Velika Kladusa. Here, a small and very young team of independent volunteers, driven by a common and powerful desire to support those who return from the border without shoes, devastated, often injured, tries to sustain the people who are stuck, living in desperate conditions.
The volunteers are the main focus: constantly moved by a strong sense of justice but also filled with an inevitable anger and crushed by an enormous sense of helplessness for what they see and cannot resolve. The documentary tells the story of an imperfect humanity that needs to be captured and brought back to the world.
Afkar Production was born from a conversation between two individuals united by their profound love for cinema and a shared vision to make a meaningful impact in the film industry. Wided Zoghlami, a seasoned documentarist and film director known for her work in “Fathallah TV” and as the first assistant on “Four Daughters,” brought to the table her extensive experience and keen eye for storytelling that captures the essence of human experiences. Her journey in the film industry, marked by a passion for unveiling untold stories, has always been about more than just creating films; it’s been about creating dialogue and understanding through the art of cinema.
Imed Radhouani, on the other hand, brought a different yet complementary perspective. As a passionate cinema enthusiast, producer, and mentor for youth animation cinema clubs, Imed’s involvement in the film world was deeply rooted in community and education. His work, centered around nurturing young talent and fostering a love for the cinematic arts, demonstrated his belief in the power of film as a tool for social change and personal growth. This unique blend of Wided’s artistic vision and Imed’s community-focused approach laid the foundation for what Afkar Production would become – a platform where young filmmakers, especially those from less privileged backgrounds, could find a voice and a space to tell their stories, turning their cinematic dreams into reality.
